The dermatologists at Calabasas Dermatology Center are excited to introduce Kybella<\/a> \u2013 a non-invasive treatment option for double chins \u2013 to our patients.<\/p>\n

Kybella is a new injectable treatment available at Calabasas Dermatology Center that aims to treat submental fullness (known as double chin). It’s capable of improving chin contouring without the need for surgery and the downsides of any surgical procedure, including recovery time and invasiveness. Kybella was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in May of 2015, making Calabasas Dermatology Center one of the first centers in the U.S. to offer this\u00a0cosmetic treatment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How does this treatment work?<\/h2>\n

Kybella is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally made in the body used to break down dietary fat. Following 20 clinical studies, involving 2,600 patients over 9 years, Kybella has proven to dissolve submental fat (the cause of double chin) when properly injected in the chin area. Prior to the approval of this treatment, patients typically had to resort to surgery or\u00a0liposuction<\/a> to reduce their chin profile.<\/p>\n
