Sculptra is an injectable facial filler that has been in use since 1999. It is still popular today because it provides natural-looking results that appear subtly and gradually, so your looks don’t change overnight.<\/p>\n

What Is Sculptra?<\/h2>\n

Sculptra is a synthetic wrinkle filler<\/a> mostly made of poly-L-lactic acid, a bioidentical compound that helps replace collagen lost from the connective tissue that underlies your skin. Collagen loss is what leads to wrinkles and sagging — as the connective tissue loses collagen, it becomes less flexible and pulls the skin together, forming lines and folds.<\/p>\n

As a bioidentical compound, Sculptra can be injected safely as it is can be broken down and absorbed by the body with no risk.<\/p>\n

What Occurs During a Sculpta Treatment?<\/h2>\n

This cosmetic procedure is relatively simple and brief. Sculptra is a non-invasive facial and dermal filler<\/a>. Sculptra is injected directly into the area to be treated by a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Hal Weitzbuch and the Calabasas Dermatology team. A topical numbing cream may be applied beforehand to reduce discomfort.<\/p>\n

After injection, the area is massaged to ensure that the dermal filler is distributed evenly beneath the skin.<\/p>\n

There should be no downtime or side effects after a Sculptra injection. Some patients experience slight swelling of the injected area, but that generally subsides quickly. Applying an ice pack or cold compress to the area will help bring down the swelling.<\/p>\n

Results of Sculptra<\/h2>\n

The affected area may seem fuller right away, but that’s mostly a side effect of the water content of the Sculptra injection and will pass as the body eliminates the excess water.<\/p>\n

The real results of Sculptra take time as the body forms new collagen around the affected area. Within four to six weeks, the actual results, including increased fullness, definition, and a reduction of wrinkles and lines<\/a> should be visible. The changes are subtle rather than dramatic, but there should be a noticeable filling and smoothing of the skin in the affected area.<\/p>\n
