What is Radiesse and how to dermatologists use it?<\/h2>\n

Radiesse is a dermal filler<\/a> that a cosmetic\u00a0dermatologist injects beneath the skin using fine needles. Radiesse is made up of tiny balls of calcium hydroxylapatite, or CaHA. It’s a type of mineral that’s found naturally in bones. In Radiesse, it is suspended in a gel. It not only plumps out wrinkled areas, but stimulates the body to make its own collagen. Collagen is a fibrous protein that’s found throughout the body and makes up connective tissue. It’s also found beneath the layers of skin. There it serves as a sort of springy mattress to keep the skin supple.<\/p>\n

What are the lasting effects of this dermal filler?<\/h2>\n

Radiesse is absorbed harmlessly by the body over time. However, its effects can last for over a year, and even when it’s absorbed it leaves behind the body’s own collagen. Calcium hydroxylapatite is biosynthesized and is not made with any animal products.<\/p>\n

What should I expect before, during and after this cosmetic procedure in Calabasas?<\/h2>\n

Before any Radiesse treatments, the cosmetic dermatologist will review the patient\u2019s medical history<\/a> then examine and map the areas of the face the client wants treated.<\/p>\n

Then, the area will be cleaned and a topical anesthetic may be used. The area will then be injected and evaluated. Depending on what needs to be done, the process can take between 15 minutes and an hour.<\/p>\n
