Benign Skin Growth Treatments in Calabasas
Thanks to amazing advancements in cosmetic dermatology procedures, patients in Calabasas can now treat their benign skin growths under the direct supervision of one of our board-certified dermatologists.
By definition, benign growths are things that a person can live with. However, a group of warts, a mole that looks odd, or skin tags are sometimes unsightly and people long to get rid of them. Fortunately, there are several ways to remove these growths.
All of these procedures are performed from right inside the comfort of our Calabasas center. Our team of experts can ensure what you have is just a benign skin growth and not skin cancer or a precancerous skin lesion.
Routinely examine your skin and if you notice any new growths, be sure to see one of our amazing providers at the Calabasas Dermatology Center for a checkup.
In this procedure, the dermatologist cuts out the offending growth. First, we can anesthetize the area, then the surgeon will use a blade, surgical scissors or a curette to cut the growth out. The surgical wound may need stitches or may simply need a dressing if it’s small.
Without any cutting at all, the growth is destroyed by freezing it with liquid nitrogen. The liquid nitrogen is applied with a Q-tip or sprayed on. Eventually, the growth crumbles and can be scraped away. Usually it doesn’t leave a scar.
Laser skin resurfacing uses laser light to remove the growths. The laser works by hitting the growth with a high intensity light that vaporizes it. Dermatologists prefer CO2 lasers when applicable because they can remove the growth cleanly without overly damaging the skin around it.
