Even with routine exercise and a healthy diet, some people run into difficulty shedding excess body fat. Unsightly fatty deposits on the tummy, love handles, back, arms, thighs or beneath the chin can lead to a great deal of frustration. These fatty deposits can be successfully addressed with SmartLipo, our state-of-the-art system for liposuction in Thousand Oaks.
The word "liposuction" often conjures up scary images of hoses, vacuums, and lumpy skin, but new advances in lipoplastic procedures produce far superior results. SmartLipo™ is an updated technique that combines laser therapy and traditional liposuction that produce a smoother, more consistent result and an easier recovery.
When seeking a skilled provider to perform liposuction, you want to be confident that you are in good hands, and that the procedure will be performed with the highest level of skill, as results can vary. We are proud to have assembled a team of highly-professional healthcare providers with great skill and attention who work with our award-winning, board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Hal Weitzbuch, to create stunning results. Never trust your body, or a liposuction procedure to a less-qualified professional – we focus on producing beautiful, sculpted results. Dr. Weitzbuch is a true “body-sculpture” artist.
Tumescent numbing is an alternative to traditional general anesthesia. In this procedure, a large volume of fluid with a very dilute amount of lidocaine is used to numb the entire body area being treated. This allows our patients to be awake during the procedure, avoiding risks of being put to sleep. Also, patients are able to stand up towards the end of the procedure, allowing Dr. Weitzbuch the ability to reassess how his patients have progressed and touch-up any irregularities, greatly reducing the chance of needing a separate procedure. We always ensure safe levels of lidocaine use and avoid medication interactions that can alter metabolism.
Liposuction in Westlake Village, when performed by Dr. Weitzbuch at the Calabasas Dermatology Center, is the most advanced method by which to reduce the size of fatty deposits. Dr. Weitzbuch uses the SmartLipo laser system to heat the excess fat, while cauterizing the vessels and heating the skin for added skin tightening.
Using his specialized HOTLIPO™ technique, Dr. Weitzbuch, our board-certified dermatologist known for his high level skills, will heat the deeper layers of skin and achieve impressive results in skin tightening as an added benefit to fat removal. HOTLIPO™ is safe, as the system monitors levels of heat on the surface and beneath the skin to help ensure safe heating parameters. It takes extra time to achieve the HOTLIPO™ effect, and Dr. Weitzbuch will spend as much time as necessary to get your skin to the right temperature for the proper amount of time to produce truly unbelievable results!
Although excess body fat is very common, the good news is that it can be effectively treated by Dr. Weitzbuch at the Calabasas Dermatology Center. One of the newest and most successful ways to treat excess fat is called SmartLipo.
Unlike traditional liposuction, SmartLipo is assisted by laser energy to ease the process of extracting excess fat. The laser has the added function of tightening skin to reduce the risk of sagging skin after the fatty deposits are reduced in size.
Not only is SmartLipo much safer than traditional liposuction, the final results are also more visually appealing. The best part is that there will be dramatically less bruising and discomfort following the procedure. The fast recovery time enables patients to return to their daily lives far sooner. SmartLipo also enables Dr. Weitzbuch to use a much smaller cannula, which creates a much smaller mark on the body, leaving you with the best liposuction Thousand Oaks has to offer.
Typically, liposuction (lipoplasty) involves removing fat cells from specific areas of the body using a suction device and a tube that is inserted through an incision in the skin. The dermatologist performing the procedure uses the tube to break up pockets of fat, which are then removed via suction. While effective, traditional liposuction has a serious drawback – while excess fat has been removed, the patient can be left with unsightly, saggy skin and a lumpy, uneven appearance post-surgery.
SmartLipo™ is an alternative to traditional liposuction. In this procedure, lasers are used to help liquefy fat deposits beneath the skin. The fatty liquid is then removed through an extremely small adit via a suction device. The laser also tightens skin and seals damaged blood vessels, and the procedure involves less bleeding, inflammation, and bruising, and leads to a more even, uniform appearance, and a faster recovery time, in addition to tighter skin.
Recovery from SmartLipo™ is usually uneventful. Patients who come to our Calabasas office for the procedure typically need to wear compression bandages to help keep fluid from accumulating around surgical sites, encourage drainage, and avoid skin folds. Planning for the procedure is important as you will need a few days to relax post-operatively.
Most patients will need to rest for about two to four days before returning to work or other activities, but this varies, based upon the number of body areas treated. You will need to avoid exercise or any strenuous activities for one to four weeks, and ensure you follow all aftercare instructions. We are always here to answer any questions or concerns and will be monitoring your recovery to ensure you heal properly.
If you are considering liposuction in Malibu or other surrounding areas, perfectionist Dr. Hal Weitzbuch at the Calabasas Dermatology Center will work closely with you to help you determine if SmartLipo™ is right for you.
