Hal M. Weitzbuch, M.D., M.S., F.A.A.D.
Our medical director, Dr. Weitzbuch, is a nationally recognized double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon, known for delivering precise, natural-looking results across medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. He is a member of the American Society for Mohs Surgery and serves as a volunteer assistant clinical professor of medicine at UCLA, where he contributes to the training of future physicians.
With a comprehensive approach to skin health, Dr. Weitzbuch specializes in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer, as well as complex dermatologic conditions and age-related changes of the skin, hair, and nails. His expertise spans advanced skin cancer surgery and reconstruction, cosmetic injectables, and laser assisted liposuction, allowing him to tailor treatments that are both effective and aesthetically refined.
Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Dr. Weitzbuch brings both technical precision and an artistic eye to every procedure. His longstanding interest in photography informs his aesthetic judgment, helping him achieve balanced, natural outcomes that align with each patient’s goals.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Weitzbuch has presented at national dermatology meetings, published in peer-reviewed journals, and contributed to research that has earned both grant funding and patent recognition. He is currently overseeing multiple clinical trials in the office and he travels throughout the country giving lectures to colleagues. His work reflects a commitment to staying at the forefront of dermatologic innovation while maintaining a patient-first philosophy.
Dr. Weitzbuch earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University and a Master’s Degree in Applied Physiology from the Chicago Medical School, where he also obtained his Medical Degree. He completed a surgical internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by a dermatology residency at Cook County Hospital, one of the nation’s most rigorous and high-volume training programs. He then pursued advanced specialty training in Mohs micrographic surgery.
A Calabasas native, Dr. Weitzbuch is proud to serve the community he calls home. After more than a decade of training in Chicago, he returned to Southern California to build a practice centered on trust, accessibility, and exceptional care. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their daughters—who already know the importance of daily sunscreen.
Volunteer Work
Dedicated to help those in need, Dr. Weitzbuch has made two international medical mission trips to Ecuador and Nepal. He is also a volunteer attending physician at Olive View – UCLA Medical Center, an LA County hospital, where he helps treat patients with financial constraints while also teaching the residents in clinic.
