Prevent Forehead Wrinkles with Botox
When should you worry about forehead wrinkles? Right now! Regardless of your age, you need to take care of your skin. This means taking preventative steps to keep wrinkles at bay, such as regularly moisturizing, using retinol and applying sunscreen to protect against sun damage.
What Causes Wrinkles?
Wrinkles are a natural result of smiling, frowning and otherwise moving the muscles of your face. The repeated motions cause lines to form and deepen. Added to this, as we age, our skin loses elasticity. With less fat to act as a buffer, lines and creases form more easily.
Is Botox Necessary?
For some people, the muscles on their forehead get a workout. Things like squinting or staring at a phone or computer screen for a long period of time lead to the tightening of muscles particularly in the glabellar region between the eyebrows. This causes a crease and eventually, it creates a wrinkle.
Retinol and other anti-wrinkle treatments and creams can help, but they don’t have the same dramatic, long-lasting effect as Botox. Creams penetrate the top layer of skin and either plump it up to hide the appearance of wrinkles or remove it so the crease or indentation isn’t as visible. In comparison, early treatment with Botox keeps forehead muscles from being overworked and halts the development of wrinkles before they start or get too deep.
What About Long-Time Forehead Wrinkles?
Botox is most helpful if you stop the problem before it starts with early treatment. The longer a crease or wrinkle exists, the more difficult it will be to smooth it out. People who delay treatment and allow their wrinkles to deepen will often need more injections at a higher frequency. It can take years of regular Botox treatments to relax the muscle enough to rid your wrinkles once they have formed.
On the other hand, if you begin treating your forehead early, you can prevent or at least greatly slow down the formation of unwanted wrinkles.
