Cosmetic Dermatology With Juvederm to Smooth Facial Lines
Juvederm XC and Juvederm Voluma XC are changing the way that we look at aging skin. Juvederm products benefit its users by giving them a non-surgical filler to instantly smooth lines and add volume to the face, thus erasing some obvious signs of stress and aging. What makes Juvederm different from other cosmetic procedure products is that it uses hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that provides smoothness and volume in the skin, as a non-surgical injection to provide natural-looking treatment for wrinkles and folds. It is FDA-approved for those who:
- are 21 and older
- do not have severe allergies
- and do not have allergies to lidocaine or proteins used in making HA.
It has been studied and tested on several different skin types, and it can last up to one year or longer.
What should I expect from my Juvederm treatments in Calabasas
After a consultation with your doctor, the injection process usually only takes one office visit to our Calabasas Dermatology Center. A fine needle fills the areas with Juvederm, and because this can cause discomfort in some people, your cosmetic dermatologist can choose to numb the area. If touch-up injections are needed throughout the year, only about half the gel will be used to help you keep your best results. Most side effects are brief (lasting 7 days or less) and mild to moderate (like redness, tenderness, or swelling at the injection site).
Getting to know the differences between Juvederm XC and Juvederm Voluma XC
Understand that Juvederm XC is meant to smooth moderate to severe lines around the nose and mouth area. It has great results on smile lines, but it should not be used to add much extra volume. However, Juvederm Voluma XC is the first and only injectable gel approved for correcting volume loss in the cheek area. This is an ideal product for a patient looking to lift and create more contour in the cheeks. Juvederm Voluma XC is a deeper-hitting hyaluronic acid injection than Juvederm XC, and can actually last longer at about two years with optimal treatment.
Visit an experienced Calabasas dermatologist to find out which Juvederm injection is best for you, and discuss the possibility of receiving both fillers during one treatment.
